Adelaide will host Australia’s premier investor event next November, and with it a funding boost potentially worth more than $1 million for the local medical research sector.
Sohn Hearts & Minds will attract 600 senior representatives and key decision-makers, investors, and scientists from over 450 organisations worldwide.
The conference doubles as a major fundraiser for medical research, with 50 per cent of funds raised donated to the field in its host state – which, in 2024, is South Australia.
Since its inception, the event is on track to raise more than $60 million through conference ticket sales and donated fees from its listed investment company, known as Hearts and Minds Investments.
Attendees include ultra-high-net worth investors and the chief investment officers of some of Australia’s leading industry and retail super funds, representing more than $500 billion of wholesale funds under management.
The 2023 conference, held in Sydney, featured speakers such as famed hedge fund manager Dan Loeb from New York-based Third Point; Dr Peter Attia, world-leading longevity expert and founder of Early Medical; Professor Misty Jenkins AO, WEHI and Cathie Wood of ARK Invest.
