The Government of South Australia will donate $100,000 to Women’s Safety Services SA (WSSSA) in honour of Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig, who was killed in the line of duty last month.
Brevet Sergeant Doig will be honoured with a Police Funeral at the Adelaide Convention Centre at 11am today. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and are urged to register online to do so.
The funeral will be followed by a Guard of Honour along North Terrace and King William Road.
In an extraordinary act of selflessness at a time of grief, the family of Brevet Sergeant Doig has requested mourners consider making a donation in memory of Jason to Women’s Safety Services, in lieu of flowers.
Women’s Safety Services supports women and their children who are experiencing domestic and family violence.
It operates the Domestic Violence Crisis Line and a range of programs and services over numerous sites to assist people in South Australia.
Cash donations can be made to Women’s Safety Services via https://womenssafetyservices.com.au/support-us/.
