Jennifer was 15 years of age when she first entered the workforce as a clerical officer. In 1991 she was accepted into Adelaide University to undertake a Bachelor of Labour Studies and was the first of her family to undertake tertiary studies.
She has an extensive and varied political experience and has had the opportunity to work with a range of diverse political groups both in the city and country South Australia.
In May 2002 Jennifer was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier where she successfully negotiated a partnership agreement between the State Government and the Volunteer Sector in South Australia. She also worked with the Minister for Health in devising and implementing a universal home visiting program 'Every Chance for Every Child' for all new born babies in South Australia.
Jennifer is the mother of two adult sons and along with her family lived in the northern country towns of Peterborough and Port Pirie for approximately 13 years before returning to Adelaide.
Jennifer has been a member of the Australian Labor Party since 1975 and was elected to the marginal state seat of Wright, situated in Adelaide's northern suburbs in 1997.
