The Malinauskas Labor Government continues to support the South Australian live music industry with the creation of the Premier’s Live Music Advisory Council.
Artists, venue owners, promoters and key industry representatives will make up the newly formed Council, which will enable greater engagement between the State Government and the state’s live music sector.
The purpose of the Council is to provide timely and accurate advice and recommendations to the State Government on challenges and opportunities relating to the live music industry.
Its establishment delivers on a key election commitment as part of the See It LIVE program, which is reigniting the live music sector across the state.
The Council will have 12 members (including the Chair), comprising six women, and six men:
- Christine Schloithe – Premier’s Advisory Council Chair and MusicSA CEO
- Alice Fraser – Production Coordinator for Tame Impala
- Craig Lock – Co-Owner and Managing Director of Five Four Entertainment (Lion Arts Factory, Spin Off Festival, Hindley Street Music Hall)
- Gareth Lewis – Co-Founder and Director of the Adelaide Beer and BBQ Festival, and Co-Owner and head booker for UniBar ADL

The Council will provide advice on current issues and trends affecting the live music sector in South Australia.
The work of the Premier’s Live Music Advisory Council will complement the work of the Music Development Office (MDO) – the first state government office of its kind in Australia - dedicated to supporting growth for the contemporary music industry since its establishment in 2014.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MDO has delivered $9 million of support to the heavily impacted live music industry, in addition to the See It LIVE program.
The Premier’s Live Music Advisory Council is part of the $10 million See It LIVE support package announced in 2022, which includes a range of e-vouchers, grants, mental health support programs, financing for venue upgrades and an events cancellation fund to support the industry’s recovery.
In continued support for the state’s live music sector, venues wanting to host live music in 2023 can register for e-vouchers – worth up to $2,000.
