Work has begun on a $500,000 upgrade to Crystal Brook and District Hospital’s Roseview Aged Care Service.

The facelift will include reflooring, new carpet tiles, electrical upgrades to all rooms and a fresh coat of paint, with contractors starting on site this week.

The facility’s communal courtyard will also be renovated, including a shade shelter with zip track blinds, raised garden beds and lawn with irrigation.

Work is expected to be completed around July and has been jointly funded by a Commonwealth Aged Care Grant and the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network.

To ensure the safety of staff and residents during the most intensive phase of the works, residents will move into temporary accommodation at Crystal Brook and District Hospital for six to eight weeks.

The move will be done slowly prior to work commencing, with plenty of time for residents and their families to tour hospital rooms, and make sure their treasured personal items are with them.

The project has been funded with a combination of funding between a Multi-Purpose Commonwealth Aged Care Grant, and the YNLHN Asset Sustainment Program.

I know that improvements have been on the agenda for some time so it’s great to see work underway on the Roseview Aged Care upgrade.

Not only will the upgrade deliver much improved amenities inside the facility, but also significantly improve the outside space which we know is so important for wellbeing and connecting with families.

I am pleased to see upgrades are underway for the redevelopment of an aged care service that is so important to the local community.

These investments allow regional South Australians to stay comfortably in local facilities, close to their families and where they have been based for most of their lives.

While there will be long-term benefits, our number one priority is making sure residents feel safe, supported and reassured over the next weeks while works continue.

Some residents will move to alternative accommodation for a short period of time while the most intensive renovations are taking place, and this will be done in a smooth, calm way.

A huge thank you to all our residents, their families and our staff and volunteers for their support. We look forward to the refurbishments being completed and residents returning to enjoy their home.
