In 2002, David Ridgway was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council to serve in the Parliament of South Australia.
He was appointed as the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment in the Marshall Government, in March 2018.
In the year prior, David served as the Shadow Minister for Regional Development, Primary Industries and Tourism.
David was appointed the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council between 2007 and 2013, during which time he held roles as the Shadow Minister for various portfolios including Agriculture, Food and Fisheries and Forests.
David grew up in the small township of Wolseley, in South Australia’s South East.
He developed a strong interest in rural affairs and travelled extensively throughout the state connecting with farming communities.
Before entering politics, David managed his family farm and helped it grow into a large scale horticultural business operation. During this time, he gained a valuable understanding of business and exports.
David and his wife Meredith have three children – Ashleigh, Tara and Louis.
