South East schools connect to high-speed internet

Almost 9,000 public school students across 41 schools in the South East will soon have faster internet access thanks to the Marshall Liberal Government’s $80 million project to connect every government school in South Australia to a world class high-speed internet connection.

Upgrades to 10 schools in the region have already been completed, with another 10 to be completed during Term 3.

Surge in uptake of Liberal Government’s energy discount offer

A campaign push to increase awareness of the Liberal Government’s Energy Concession Discount Offer has resulted in a surge of South Australians taking up the discount energy deal in recent weeks.

A letter was distributed to approximately 120,000 energy concession customers in late July, prompting them to compare their current energy deal with the offer, which is delivered by Origin Energy.

Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said the campaign had sparked a surge in the uptake of the offer, seeing hundreds of households transfer to the deal each day.

Liberal Government upgrades Waymouth Street boarding house for people sleeping rough

The Liberal Government has completed $62,000 of maintenance and upgrade works to a rundown boarding house in Waymouth Street which will be used to help people sleeping rough transition to safe and secure accommodation.

The Waymouth St boarding house will be run under the guidance of the Adelaide Zero Project and be used for transitional accommodation for people who have been rough sleeping.

Apply to Save Lives Today

Local clubs are being urged to apply for funding for a defibrillator through the Marshall Government’s Active Club Program which opens today.

Young footballer Tyler Bennett, whose life was saved by a defibrillator when his collapsed on-field in May last year, has spearheaded the awareness campaign.

People at the ground administered first aid, including with the use of a defibrillator at the ground, before Tyler was rushed to hospital.

He was in a coma for two days but has fully recovered and has since returned to playing the game he loves.

Location revealed for new school in the north

The Marshall Liberal Government’s record investment in education has reached another milestone with 14 hectares of land on Riverbanks Road in Angle Vale earmarked as the location for the new birth to year 12 school in Adelaide’s north.

The State Government’s $1.3 billion worth of capital projects will deliver state-of-the-art educational facilities across South Australia, including the new birth to year 12 school in the north of Adelaide.

Let's make South Australia more inclusive

The Liberal Government wants to hear from people with disability, their families and carers and anyone interested in promoting the inclusion of people with disability to create South Australia’s first State Disability Inclusion Plan.

The four-year plan, which will be finalised later this year, aims to improve access and inclusion across the community for people with disability.

Pre-apprenticeship program offers a new style of training for the hairdressing sector

A new industry-driven hairdressing pre-apprenticeship program is being designed with South Australian salons to help attract and retain apprentices across the sector.

Minister for Innovation and Skills David Pisoni said employers in metropolitan Adelaide will be involved in recruiting 24 participants to take part in the Clip Joint Education Salon Connected Pre-Apprenticeship project.

Liberal Government wants YOU to help shape South Australia’s housing future

The Liberal Government is urging regional South Australians to have their say in shaping the future of housing in the state at a series of community forums this month.

Minister for Human Services Michelle Lensink said the forums would give regional communities the opportunity to put forward their ideas about how to reform the housing system across the housing spectrum, from responding to homelessness to social and affordable housing.

First State Government-led safety hub opens in Murray Bridge today

South Australia’s first State Government-led safety hub has opened in Murray Bridge today.

The hub will provide local women and their children living in, or at risk of, a violence or abusive situation better access to the support and information they need.

To be known as “The Haven”, the Murray Bridge location is the first of nine to be opened by the Liberal Government across regional areas of the state.

From ruins to new roads

The Marshall Liberal Government has announced eight country roads will be upgraded to enable the safe reinstatement of the 110 km/h speed limit, slashed by the former Labor government.

The Marshall Government will invest up to $70 million to upgrade these eight country roads to ensure they meet the appropriate safety standards.

Planning and design works will begin within the next month, with a tender for the procurement of works for the Carpenters Rocks Road upgrade to be released this month.
